PRCA introduces designatory letters for members

The Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) has introduced official post-nominal letters to designate member employees, associates of the institution and those who have successfully completed PRCA qualifications.
The letters enable PR practitioners abiding by the body's charter and codes of conduct to differentiate themselves from those outside its remit.
The designations are as follows:
MPRCA applies to all UK members of the PRCA
IMPRCA denotes international membership
AMPRCA can be used by suppliers endorsed by the organisation and official partners working in PR client-facing roles
Those who have successfully completed the PRCA diploma are awarded the postscript DipPRCA; graduates in the PRCA advanced certificate can use the letters Ad CertPRCA; while the title F CertPRCA can be claimed upon achieving the organisation's foundation certificate.
Francis Ingham, chief executive of the PRCA, said: 'This is another important step in ensuring that practitioners who commit to professional standards stand out from those who do not. It's a broadside across the bows of the cowboys and the incompetents - it will make it so much harder for them to find a hiding place. In a market with such low barriers to entry, proving professionalism and ethics is vital.'
The new letters are intended to complement the body's existing titles FPRCA denoting a Fellow of the institution and CMPRCA which applies to member of the PR Council.
