Amy Bryant-Jeffries, account executive at PR agency The Remarkable Group, has become the first recipient of a qualification from the Public Relations Consultants Association.
The young executive was awarded the Foundation Certificate at a ceremony in Winchester by the chief executive of the PRCA Francis Ingham. She was also promoted from receptionist to account executive during her nine months of study.
The PRCA offers a three-tier qualification programme, comprising Foundation Courses for entry-level PR practitioners; an Advanced Certificate, which provides training in how to run a PR campaign and a variety of specialist skills such as public affairs, crisis management, digital and CSR; as well as a PRCA Diploma, aimed at account directors looking to refine their financial, commercial, personnel and account management skills.
Bryant-Jeffries said: 'I'd certainly recommend a PRCA qualification. Mine was filled with practical insights that helped me in my day-to-day job. My Foundation Certificate has helped me achieve a promotion and given me a firm foundation for my career in PR.'
Jessica Lobendhan, training manager at the PRCA, said: 'We've invested heavily in creating an industry-leading programme of practical, affordable courses and qualifications.
'In these tough times, employers do not want pseudo-academia - they want practical learning that will make their employees better at their job. That's exactly what we're providing. Expect to see many more PR professionals achieving PRCA qualifications in the months and years to come.'
