TV comics falsely accuse cow of crimes against bovanity

Fast Show comics Simon Day and Rhys Thomas star as a pair of bungling detectives misguidedly interrogating a cow in environmental campaign group Friends of the Earth's new release intended to highlight the environmental impact of factory farming.
Day levels a series of unsubstantiated allegations at the bewildered bovine, accidentally taking him for the mastermind behind rainforest destruction in South America. Impressionist Alistair McGowan is extremely convincing in the role of the cow.
This dramatic offering is the latest stunt in the environmental group's MOOvement, which earlier this year organised an invasion of the London Underground by thousands of commuters dressed as cows.
The release is deliberately timed to coincide with the run-up to a vote on 12 November on the Sustainable Livestock Bill, that would commit the government to reducing the environmental impact of meat and dairy farming. Viewers are asked to lobby the 20 MPs who will be entitled to vote on the bill next month.
Day said: 'We spent a day filming on a farm where cows can graze and are treated well. Farms like this should be the norm - not factory farms that are trashing the planet.
'I want to see the Government supporting thriving, planet-friendly British farming instead of factory farms.'
Thomas said: 'It's criminal that £700 million of taxpayers' money props up damaging factory farms which drive rainforest destruction in South America.
'Join the MOOvement and ask your MP to support Friends of the Earth's campaign for rainforest-free food.'
