Facebook breast cancer awareness campaign goes viral

A euphemistic Internet meme highlighting Breast Cancer Awareness Month has gone viral on Facebook.
Women web-wide are posting suggestive status updates identifying where they like to put their handbag. 'I like it on the sofa', 'I like it on the kitchen table,' and 'I like it under my desk at work' are a few of the more popular submissions. The campaign, which originated in the US, has the three-fold benefit of raising breast cancer awareness, reminding women to get checked and bewildering the male population of the social network.
Those taking part in the campaign are invited to forward a chain email to all female Facebook friends, spreading the word. Handbag.
Last October, women were invited to identify their bra colour in their Facebook statuses. Flurries of 'beige', 'hot pink', 'vivid scarlet' and 'nothing' hit newsfeeds worldwide. As the chain message notes, 'It was a tremendous success and we had men wondering for days what was with the colors.'
The email then encourages women to continue the trend this year: 'The bra game made it to the news. Let's see how powerful we women really are!!!'
