PCC issues newspaper and magazine ads to promote its services

The Press Complaints Commission has issued a series of adverts to feature in newspapers and magazines as part of a drive to publicise its services. They carry three different messages, one relating to allegations of harassment, one covering discrimination and another concerning intrusion. Publication of the adverts is entirely voluntary but representatives of the commission expect take-up to be high. The series of adverts is designed to conform to a variety of news formats and available in greyscale and colour.
Jonathan Collett, director of communications at the PCC, said: 'The ads are being published on a voluntary basis and have already featured in two Sunday nationals and a weekly. They are designed to raise awareness of the services provided by the PCC. The industry supports the work of the commission because its committed to self-regulation. Of course, it is in the interest of the industry for their regulatory body to work and to be effective.'
Baroness Buscombe, chairman of the Press Complaints Commission, said of the campaign: 'We are very much committed to increasing awareness of the PCC and its public service. This new advertising campaign will vividly convey the help we can provide. The more people who use the PCC's services to achieve redress, on issues like inaccuracy, intrusion and harassment, the better. I urge the newspaper and magazine industry to support this campaign and to positively promote the important work of the PCC.'
