B&Q launches first handyman app

Louisa Coward is the editorial intern at CorpComms Magazine

Home improvement retailer B&Q has launched a free application offering tips and 'how to' guides to those about to embark on a spot of DIY.
The application is geared at everyone from DIY novices to seasoned handymen. It offers advice for beginners on how to stay safe while working and how to use basic tools and equipment alongside more step by step guides on how to fix a burst pipe, replace electrical switches or erect a fence.
The knowledge can then be shared with other domestic tinkers via Facebook and Twitter. The application will create a list of tools needed for the job, offer a GPRS tool to locate your nearest B&Q branch, and deliver alerts to the latest in-store offers and promotions direct to your phone.
Dave Elliott, director of B&Q Direct who developed the APP, said: 'We want to help our customers get the best results from any job they undertake, whether they are in store picking up the products or at home about to embark on the project. We all feel more confident with someone to help and advise us, and the App is designed to do just that and offer customers everything they need right in the palm of their hand.'
